If I have followers, is XP thrown in a pool & divided amongst the party?

Do we each gain our own XP based on damage dealt?

Do we each gain our own XP based on kills?

Does damage XP grant less than XP for a kill?

There are soooo many way XP could be awarded, just wondering if anyone knows the exact formula. Thanks in advance!

I agree with Aignur with one slight adjustment. GOG altered the game slightly so that your NPC's will continue to level once you pass level 50 and no longer level up (for which I'm very grateful):


Excerpt from GOG readme.txt:

- By popular demand, you can continue to gain experience at level 50. At the point where you would normally advance to the next level, you will remain at 50 but any followers will level up. Then you are reset to level 50 and can continue to advance. In this way, you can eventually level all followers to 50, no matter what their level when they joined you.

I thought this already happened? Or maybe it was added in the Unofficial Patch? I seem to remember followers continuing to level after I reached the level cap back when I was playing my disc copy.
