I remember buying this way back when hoping for a Baldurs Gate thrillride, but once I started playing it just became obvious that it was a horrible broken mess of a game. So short and sweet, my question is how much has been fixed since then? Is it worth playing or will you be pulling your hair out due to a bug or a broken quest every 10 minutes?

Well, now we have the Unofficial Arcanum Patch, which does a really good job at fixing the game. I only played it with the mod (didn't have Arcanum when it first came out), and I haven't experienced any serious annoyances.
You can get it from this page, under the "Unofficial Patch" tab. Unfortunately, the mod's own page doesn't work anymore, but fortunately, the link does.

Sounds like it's worth a try at least. I hear the homemade patch did wonders for Fallout 2, and that had quite a few flaws as well.
Thanks a lot!

Yes, the UAP is a godsend! You'll want the high res patch too, for sure. Arcanum is an amazing RPG!
