Every time I try to leave the shrouded hills I end up being killed by timber wolves or golden bears and I need to leave to deliver something for a quest and complete the Bessie Tombes quest. I'm level 3, any suggestions on what I should do?
I just picked evil muck eye who is honestly a tank, he might have low intelligence but once i leveled up I put my character point int intel , so I'm doing much better, just thought I'd let you guys know I solved my problem! but I love the speech options for characters with low intel!

Glad you managed to solve your problem. I just wanted to check to make sure you know how to fast-travel... doing that will skip you past a lot of tougher fights when you're low level, and it's not really obvious how to do it. If you don't know already, here's how: when you leave the town your map icon will change to a blue globe, indicating that you are no longer "in town". Then you can click it to get the world map, and set waypoints for fast travel. You will occasionally be interrupted by a fight but these (usually) aren't too much above your level. Still, it's a good idea to save first.

Sometimes it's a good idea to travel without using fast-travel, but you might want to wait until you're higher level and can handle some tougher fights before trying it.
I hope you´re playing turn-based combat. Save before every attack and load, if your char fails.

It´s a bit cheesy, but helps you to get through the first battles.

Real time mode is far too fast to get it handled.

+1 to this. An added bonus is that you can often find, after combat in that instance, some herbs that can be turned into healing potions / salves and other useful alchemy mixes. Those can also become a source of income, selling some of those mixes when you get to town.
(Also, it's possible to get to Tarant (and other cities) by taking the bridge to the south on the world map - you can level quite a bit with risk-free fetch quests in cities before taking on Lukan and his boys, or any subsequent wilderness fights.)

When I started out, I forgot about fast travel and didn't take the somewhat subtle hint from Virgil, so I was trapped at the crash site for a while by the pack of wolves just beyond the exit. >.<
