I tried casting it on my level 3 character and I did not notice any difference in the character sheet for melee damage. I have tried casting it both while armed with a weapon and unarmed.

I would understand if the spell's efficacy were tied to magical aptitude, but to see no difference is a bit silly.

FWIW, I also cast Strength of Earth, and did notice a definite difference in melee damage (in addition to my Strength score going up and displayed green).
Can no one offer an explanation? :/
are you using the Arcanum Essential Mods/Patches?
Yes, the unofficial patch, High Quality Townmaps, and the High Resolution ones.

Hardened hands does work but does not show up on the DAMAGE thing.

To test it make an Elf with 1Str and all 5 points in magics for 40 Magic Alignment.

Get the stranger to attack you
Save the game.
Hit the Stranger(No Hardened) you deal 4%(100->96) - Repeatable and no variance.
Load the Game
Cast Hardened Hands
Hit the Stranger with Hardened hands You deal 10%(100%->90)- Repeatable.


Because this is only 1base damage it is hard to tell if it adds Base Damage or does a Multiplier to Damage Dealt.



*additional Note*
A halfling with 1str and 17 Tech Alignment does the same damages.
