I'm at 99% Good, 16 Charisma, 3 ranks of Persuasion (Expert), and I STILL have followers lowering their opinion of me for killing what THEY perceive to be "good guys."

**SPOILER WARNING**

Case in point, I just killed Vincent (the guy possessed by a demon) with ALL evidence pointing toward it being the "right" thing to do. The Police Chief asked me to do it, Vincent HIMSELF asked me to do it, and yet my party has all just lost a level of...I dunno, "respect" I guess(?)...for me. It even made one of my party members leave me. Now granted, I got the Smoking Jacket, which allowed me to reel him back in, but is there any other way to raise a Follower's opinion of me? I mean, come on! 99% Good, 16 Charisma, Expert Persuader over here!

And yes, I know if I can get my Charisma up to 20 it won't be an issue anymore, but is there any...I dunno..."regular" way of getting them to like me better after its gone down?

I can't comment on the specific quest, as I haven't done it yet (USE SPOILER WARNINGS BY THE WAY!), but have you considered that your followers might be reacting to the act of killing, rather than who you're killing?
Good and evil aren't always that clear cut, and your followers' reactions don't always work along those lines. Magnus, for example, is a good guy. But while doing the quest where you meet him, you MUST get violent. Even though you're getting violent on evil aligned beings, some would argue that a peaceful solution would be the "good" thing to do - but Magnus (who is a good guy) won't accept that.
Ah, yes...sorry about that. Just fixed it now.

Anyhoo, I guess some Good-aligned characters will just react negatively any time you initiate combat. Still hoping there's a way I can raise their opinion of me so I can take off the Smoking Jacket & wear my armor again.
If a follower has a low opinion of you and they "accidentally" get killed in combat by an enemy and you "happen" to resurrect them they may be inclined to think your a nice guys for helping out...

This... they don't like the fact that you attacked someone. Notice that while you have no choice in this specific quest to achieve a favourable outcome in any other way (as far as I know, at least), you do have the choice of not doing the quest...

I have the Resurrection spell...but how can I single out one specific Follower to get whacked? At present, I have 4 Followers, plus a Familiar and a Medical Arachnid.

You could "accidentally" send them into a pack of mobs that they would have no chance against while you and the rest of your party sit around a corner as far away as possible, conveniently deaf and passive.

Just sayin'...
If you zombify (create undead spell/scroll or Necromizer (found schematic)) a dead enemy, you can check his/her/its stats while it's in your party. You can use this to check alignment, among other things. I carry a necromizer all the time so that I can get stats on anything interesting across which I run. There are a number of obviously bad people whose alignment is marked good. Generally, your good-aligned party members will dislike you for attacking or killing any good-aligned people - I don't think it matters who attacks first.

If you can pickpocket / plant, you might be able to abuse a certain cursed item to remedy this little problem (haven't tried it, but I think I will now). It'll be hard, although there may be a two-step way to make it easier.

You can also drop off your whiny party members temporarily, attack, and pick them back up - I can't remember if they assist or get angry if you attack a "good" guy where they can see you though.

Each party member has an item that will make them like you more, at least when they get to low reaction.

Finally, some indirect weapons can kill an enemy without giving you the credit or blame - Dynamite works, but if someone sees you plant it, they get angry. If I remember correctly, injuring but not killling with dynamite is no problem, they don't get angry so long as they don't see you planting, so you can take a couple shots.

(And on the quest in question, you might want most of your followers waiting anyway, since you have to kill him correctly . . . )
Can also set allies as passive (healers will still heal but after their fatigue runs out...) and tell the one person to be a hero against a mid level mob, few times doing this and they should be down.

NPC's seem to have the bad habit of picking up nearby items and equipping them. If you happen to drop an item that poisons the user, well, it's not your fault if someone happens to find it interesting.
Here's where I'm getting confused. I've been using my cursor to highlight the enemy I want attacked & then using F2 to give the order for my party to "Attack" that enemy. But some of these comments on here make it sound like I can give individual Followers different orders during combat. Am I missing something? And feel free to refer me to a page number in the Arcanum manual (rather than hand-type it all out), because as big as it is, I could easily have missed something.

Thanks.

We'll I know right clicking on their portrait brings up an orders menu.
And it seems you know more than I do in that area...can't believe I'm level 42 and I hadn't noticed that. Well, that's gonna change my combat tactics quite a bit!

"Solution" to Aro for being the first to give me something my character can do (read: "is already compatible to my current stats/build so I won't have to change anything") to fix my problem, and +1 to all others for helping flesh it out.

This is what the GOG Forums is all about! :-)

Benefit of right clicking Virgil to tell him to stay put: he won't complain, he'll just do it.
Just discovered another solution. I used a Fate Point to "force a good reaction" when asking a Follower to re-join after quitting...worked so well, he is now Amiable & I'm able to go back to wearing my Armor again!

Heh, took me ages to figure that out too.

Nice solution with the fate point as well . . . that's an excellent use!
