cyberbrent: What would you recommend as the best way of dealing with these... bastards. I've gotten past them alright, but I'm sure there was a better way. I was a tech-focused melee/gunfighter by the way. Later in the game, I could just blaze away ten to twelve times with a repeater and down them. Are they weak against magic or something?
I don't know about them being weak to magic, but if you are melee fighting them the worst part is that your weapons get damaged. I learned, however, that certain types of weapons such as axes do not actually get damaged when fighting them (or when bashing in doors / chests). It's possible that some of the nicer magical weapons might not get damaged either; I found a magical two-handed sword that never showed a scratch when fighting golems. Grenades also work decently, with the added advantage of pushing the golems away from you when you hit them. You'll need quite a few molotovs, but the more rare explosive grenades do a lot more damage.
