Planescape: Torment is one of those games which rewards thought and consideration of its story and events. I'd say Torment's biggest problem, in fact, is that it doesn't do enough to encourage you to play a character with high Strength and Constitution. Wisdom, Intelligence, Charisma are the big three stats in Torment if you want to see most of the game's more impressive content.
I suppose this is because that's what you're using to understand where the game goes, whereas physically you're just sitting at a computer screen. If the game's content were unlocked by physical prowess in the real world, it'd only be natural if the physical stats were more important in the game.
