I was moved after reading the reviews on GOG to buy the game. I was looking around for fansites to visit to learn more about the world.

Besides the main one at http://www.terra-arcanum.com/, are there any other english fansites which are still updating or seeing activity alive today? And is terra-arcanum still being updated?

The community is still alive at Terra Arcanum, though definitely not all too active. If you ask a question there about Arcanum you will probably eventually get an answer, it just will take a while. The actual site though hasn't seemed to have updated since October 13, 2011. There was a post on the main site about Tim Cain. But I think that is the real extent to the updates the site does now.

For someone like me who is new to Arcanum, who bought it because of the sale and I read some positive reviews about it from here and other places, only to find out the makers have shut down (not unexpected since this is a classic) and even the fan sites are largely dead, that does not bode well for the Arcanum franchise.

Is anyone here fans of the game? Having fans talk about the game makes the game all the more attractive.

Oh, I love Arcanum, and will probably always love it - and go back and play it as long as I can still get it to keep working with new technology. Definitely stick with the game though, as it is an amazing game in my opinion.

These forms are decently lively in terms of Arcanum, though it is mostly bug help, or quest assistance than discussions about the game and the world. I remember the old Terra Arcanum forums (they moved a couple years back I believe) with a lot of fondness. They were really lively and both helpful and fun places to talk to people.

Unfortunately since there isn't still a huge community invested in the game the people using forums are mostly talking about how to solve issues with newer players. Terra Arcanum forums do update about modding stuff that is happening occasionally, but like I said before, it is pretty slow.
