Last time I played the game it was on a Vista system and it ran fine.

Now I have a Windows 8.1 (with 980m) and the game loads but everything from the intro videos to the menu, cannot be seen. Everything is black. I can hear the sound and music from the intro and menus, but I can't see them.
When I am at the menu screen when the game's intros finish, the screen is still all black and the only thing that can be seen is a huge loading clock on the top right of the screen, without any animation.
The rest is just all black but as I move the mouse I can hear the sound effect going over the menus/options.

I tired compatibility with XP and Vista but nothing changes. Any suggestions?

I don't use any mods or unofficial patches and I rather not use.

That's the weirdest thing. I was mistaken. It wasn't the doublebuffer that did the trick.
The problem is with FRAPS...for some reason when FRAPS is running, the game doesn't run properly.
First time I see this in Arcanum.
