I just got Arcanum and it runs fine until i exit to desktop. when i exit, the desktop is reduced to the same size as arcanum's screen and the computer freezes. I tried window mode in the properties, the unofficial patch, but this game is simply not compatible with window mode since neither option worked. The game runs fine, I just cannot exit with out having to press the reset button which gets old and will prolly F up my disk.

any thoughts?

There are even more problems, (game freezes when opening the first barrel). I guess this is just not compatible with my computer for what ever reason. I just pissed away a few dollars and hours trying to get it to run.

Can you give us some more info on your system? It's probably possible to fix it. First, if you're running Vista or Windows 7, make sure you run both the game installer and the game itself as administrator. Second, you might need to add some things to the shortcut command line... many players need to add "-no3d -doublebuffer" to the end of the shortcut command line to get the game to work properly. Third, you should investigate the Unofficial Patch and the High-Resolution Patch, which can be found in the sticky thread in this forum. Those could fix a bunch of problems.
