Unequivocally yes, I'm sorry to say. Not that I don't like Throwing, but Firearms starts out fairly bad and gets worse and worse as the game progresses. Players often gravitate toward Firearms too, before they understand how bad it is.

I remember I made a bow & arrow character once, and as I recall, it was also better than Firearms. I don't remember exactly why I thought that - probably better equipment or something. Still not as good as Throwing, though.
