I played Arcanum Steamworks years ago, and enjoyed it so much I wrote a fan fiction based on it. Now I'm replaying it, and wondering what are the best followers from a roleplaying perspective. In other words, which followers have additional dialogues either at random or visiting new areas?
I do know the following characters have voice acting:
Virgil, Za'n Alurin, Magnus, Raven, Geofrey Tarrelond Ashe, Loghaire, Arronax, Gar, Torian Kel, Franklin Payne
I'm more familiar with characters earlier in the game than later. Of course Virgil and Magnus both have story associated with them.
Sog Mead is surprisingly well travelled, seeming to be able to give you the low down on every bar in Arcanum.
I liked Jayna's introduction, but as far as I can tell, after you get her she doesn't do much. She has some things to say about Tarant if you take her there, but beyond that whenever I've asked her about a place she says she hasn't traveled much. I was surprised I didn't lose her after taking her to Tarant, since that's where she wanted to go. In fact if you try to leave her there, she seems to be disappointed at being kicked out.
Gar gives some background information about both Tarant and Black Root (and I assume other places later in the game.
Dante of course has the tax collection quest associated with him. I assume he doesn't do or say after that quest is complete if you elect to keep him around?
