one thing really bothers me in the Aquanox games. There are no lifeforms like fishes or whales and so on in the water. The sea is dead. This makes the games very sterile. Sub Culture had such lifeforms which made a better atmoshere in my opinion. I can still remember how impressed I was, when a huge turtle suddenly swam by in Sub Culture.

Aquanox is Archimedean Dynasties sequel and it is as an postapocalyptic nightmare as games can get.
Life on the surface isn't possible anymore and the people had to go to deepsea stations to survive, even in Fallout things weren't that worse.
The oceans are dead, the watersurface is covered by a 1 meter thick muccus of dead organic material and approaching the surface with your sub results in being fried by radiation.
