I installed this game on my Windows 7 machine, installation was successful (although it didn't ask me to install any .NET or XNA stuff like it does if I try to install it on Linux through Wine). After the setup is complete, if I try to run the game I receive a popup with message: "System.InvalidOperationException: Song playback failed" (as seen on the attached picture. I can only click "OK" button and close the popup.

I am pretty sure I have the latest .NET and corresponding updates installed.
The issue is the same if I use compatibility mode <Win7.


EDIT: I solved the issue by installing Windows Media Player.
For Windows 7 x64

Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > Turn Windows Features on or off > Media Features > Check Windows Media Player > OK

For some reason Aqua Kitty REQUIRES to have WMP installed and operational. This should be noted somewhere in FAQ/requirements, since it won't start without WMP.
