Why exactly are knifes and Dorus in the melee category, when hatchets are in the ranged weapon category? They act very similiarly and you can collect multiple of them. Just like hatchets. So why have them in different categories? Same with Javelins. Why are they in the ranged weapons category, but Dorus are not? This is driving me nuts because I don't know why >.<

As far as I can tell, historically the Doru was used as a melee weapon in the ranks of a phalanx, whereas the Javelin is purpose-built for throwing (of course, you can throw a Doru and stab with a Javelin). Just so happens that in-game, you don't feel the difference in weight when throwing either.

As for knives, and hatchets, I have no idea why both aren't in the melee category...

Interesting. Thanks for the information. Is still find it a bit odd. I would for example expected to see the knifes in the range category since you mainly throw them. Well I guess it is something I just have to accept ^^
The cycling through all the weapons mid combat and trying to grab the right one is definitly the weakest aspect of the game so far. Still the game is great and I am having allot of fun exploring and fighting. I just think it would have made things way easier if you could atleast sort the items. So that you know that your prferred weapons is always on top. And the second weapon is always on the second place etc. This way you wouldn't be so confused.
