Yeah, unfortunately it's like that. Don't play a mage, the spells aren't superior to weapons anyway. I only used the healing and freeze spells anyway, eating mana herbs liberally whenever I found them.

This is probably one of the game's biggest flaws. I found myself quite often just parking somewhere safe and going AFK for a while when I played through it. The shrines should theoretically have been helpful, but being placed unpredictably makes them too unreliable without already knowing the layouts.

Use Cheat Engine, the waiting is stupid and no one should have to waste their time with that. It's either 4 bytes or 2 bytes.

The balance is weird, some of those healing runes you need the shrines to use only recover as much as a single potion
