Arkose: Anvil of Dawn needs a CD image mounted;
dosboxAnvil_single.conf has the settings you need to copy over to Boxer.
The same steps apply to other GOG DOS games that require the CD.
Diggfinger: Dear Arkose,
thank you for your msg. However, having spend HOURS in working this out, I am still at a loss.
THis is how far I got:
a)I have found the 'dosboxAnvil_single.conf' file which contains the following:
[IPX]
Enable=0
Connection=0
ipx=false
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
@ECHO OFF
mount C ".."
imgmount d -t iso -fs iso "..\anvil.dat"
c:
cls
anvil
exit
Alas, I am not sure where to copy this data? I have tried to copy it into "DOSBox Preferences.conf" and "dosbox.conf" with little success.
Could you help me clarify where I need to copy 'dosboxAnvil_single.conf' to??
PS. upon asking GOG.com for help I got the following message:
"Please try the advice given here:
http://boxerapp.com/guide/advanced#importing-cdroms You should be interested in the Anvil.dat file."
So this made me try mounting the anvil.dat file as a disc image...with little success. ;(
Seriously, I spend hours getting this game to work...if you could help me it would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Diggfinger,
Not sure if you still need some help in getting this game running under Boxer, but here comes a step-by-step description of how I got it running:
1) find the "Anvil Of Dawn.boxer" package (usually located under "users/username/DOS Games"
2) right click it and choose "Show Package Contents". Your finder window will now display the contents of the package
3) Locate the folder "C Anvil of Dawn.harddisk" and open it
4) Grab the file "Anvil.dat" and pull it somewhere else (i.e. move it to the Desktop)
5) Now go back up one folder level (so that you are back to the main package folder; the one arrived to in step two)
6) Move the file "Anvil.dat" into the main package folder
7) IMPORTANT: change the file extension from ".dat" to ".iso" (won't be automatically recognised by Boxer otherwise).
8) run game by double clicking "Anvil of Dawn.boxer" and enjoy :-)
Hope this helps some people out there!
