Just loaded up the game for the first time. The splash screen starts, with sound, but then blanks out. Then all there is is sound, but a black screen. Any ideas? Windows 10 Home, etc.

Run GOG's DOSBox configurator and try different graphic modes: DDraw and OpenGL are usually the best choices.
