Before I re-installed this game I had strong memories of a difficult and frustrating yet mesmerizing game, and I must say I wasn't far off :-)

Now I noticed that quite often my computer will suddenly "lag" heavily then resume. It really looks like someone hit the pause button then plays the missed part in fast forward.

It usually comes in batches of 3-4 lag spikes, and as you can imagine it makes the game a bit awkward to play :-)

The only thing I've noticed that seems to be correlated to these spikes is disk activity. Now the laptop I'm playing on certainly isn't very powerful but still.

Anyone facing the same issue who could help?

Playing on a Dell Latitude E4310 (I know, I know :-)) with Win7 64

Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot :-)

It's been more than a month since you posted, maybe you already solved it, but:
Have you tried changing some of the options? I think there's an option to activate the original low-res backgrounds - that might do something. But it is certainly weird that the game has performance issues. I played it shortly after its release on a machine that was already dated at the time and never encountered any slowdowns. The cause for your problem is probably rather obscure.

Well actually no, I haven't solved this one.

I'll give the ol' option a try and will keep you posted, thanks!
