Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see Flashback on here, the company went bust many years ago and I don't think the guy heading it - Paul Cuisset - is interested in bringing them back (a real shame to be honest). Flashback was always my favourite out of the two. Fade to Black (the sequel to Flashback) came out on PSOne classics and it was taken off for good so it's definately not looking good for Flashback...

Flashback was created by Delphine Software and we already have at least three games from them here on GOG (the MotRacer games), so I assume either Mr. Cuisset is interested in making money off of the old IPs from his defunct company, or someone else obtained the rights to the Delphine library during the company's bankruptcy and is interested in making money off it. There is really no reason we couldn't see Flashback show up here eventually.

Unfortunately it's not always so simple... usually the publisher owns the rights, rather than the developer. It's possible that Delphine had different publishers for different games. Then, sometimes publishers sell rights to certain things and not others. For example, 2K currently owns the Civilization franchise, but they don't own Alpha Centauri.

So it's quite possilble that whoever has the MotoRacer rights does not also have the rights to Flashback.

Of course its not that simple, I was just pointing out that the fact that the creator of the game and his company went bust means nothing as we already have games from that busted company in the GOG library. Just because a company no longer exists doesn't mean that no one owns the rights to their games and/or does not want to make money off of them. It would appear that Nobilis obtained at least some of the Delphine library when the company was liquidated, it stands to reason that MotoRacer was not the only thing they got.

If the publisher of Flashback, U.S. Gold, retained any rights, that would mean Square Enix/Eidos has it now (Eidos has acquired U.S. Gold in the mid-90's). We don't have SqeeEidos on board here yet, but there is a major publisher announcement coming soon and SqueeEidos is one of the contenders for being that announcement; with that, Flashback could come here easily.

Octavian: Back on topic.

Yes, Flashback, is definitely worth playing. I still have a copy of it for my Amiga, I might dig it out.
Yep ; having done that recently, I was so stunned to figure out in my latest playthrough that I had in fact never before gone through the real ending back in the days, on the contrary of what I always thought, that I would definitely suggest a try to anyone who has the opportunity.
It has aged very well indeed, and not only regarding to the gameplay ; without going very far in the spoiler territory, I hope, the whole level which offers a criticism of gaming shows on the television, for example, is still really relevant nowadays.
Now regarding the platform, I don't even know if a PC version has ever been released, but in any case, due to the technologies of the period, I'm having a hard time thinking a PC version would be the best one. Of course I can't imagine the legal difficulties involved, but GOG would be very inspired to commercialize such a game through an emulator if it is possible ...

In 1993 when most of the ports of the game released (Amiga was the original platform) the PC was about as good as the Amiga, so the PC version would be fine. You can see comparison screenshots here, looks fine by me: hardcoregaming101.net/flashback/flashback.htm.
But it's a long time since I played the PC port, so I don't know if it plays as well, but I think so. Most of the time I play it in a SNES emulator these days.
Another problem is that I don't know what happened to Delphine and who has the rights to their games now. Another World is an exception, because of his contract the rights reverted back to Eric Chahi after some time, that's when he started working on the 15th Anniversary version. If I remember correctly, did check if I do before posting.

I've played the PC version and definitely enjoyed it. I'm not sure exactly how it compares to the console versions but I would guess it's pretty much the same.
The best way to play the PC version of the game is with the engine remake reminiscence: http://cyxdown.free.fr/reminiscence/
I actually found Flashback a tad easier than Another World, although they are indeed very similar in many respects. To be honest, I actually liked Flashback more, but that's cause I found the game to be a bit more forgiving.. although I still think the revelation towards the end came outta nowhere.

Personally, I thought the sequel was okay, but I disliked it for some reason. Didn't care much for the sequel to Another World, either, but that's cause it was so depressing and lacked the charm of the original - wasn't made by him, either.
I would love it if the game showed up here. It is one of my favorite games of all time, I played it on my SNES at least 20 times before finally putting it away cause my game collection was getting cluttered.

I'm not so sure it will be as good as the original. I think that Ubisoft in the end will change the game too much.
I have maintained excitement for the remake. On the plus side, it's being made by the original team, and it includes the original game as well.

However I've heard it said that they are also responsible for that awful game "Amy" so I'm keeping a close eye on it.
I will buy the remake for the PS3 when it's released, but it would be very nice if a GOG release happened too :)

Would like to see Another World for the PS3 too, but oh well.

Hey,

what "revelation' are you talking about?
From the second level on the player knows whats going on.
