Another World is one of those rare games that you play every single year. It's longevity is not due the gameplay, the story, the graphics or the music, it's about the atmosphere and the experience.
From the amazing intro all the way to the end of Lester's, or dare I say the player's, journey in this alien world this is one hell of a ride. And don't dismiss these words as just a rambling of a fan boy, Hideo Kojima (of Metal Gear Solid fame), Fumito Ueda (Ico) and Goichi Suda (Killer 7, No More Heroes) all agree with me.

I've heard about the game, and I'm very interested in it, but it's not in informative review. You didn't go into the sort of atmosphere the game provided, nor what it's about or anything about it.
I will, however, purchase the game :p
The gaming atmosphere is best described in the reminiscent ramblings of an old geyser.
The game has an almost brooding malevolent feel to it imparted by it's stark crisp shapes and dark color schemes (i'm not american and english is the only REAL english if you want to pull me up on my spelling).
The pace of the game supports this atmosphere in that even when running you never seem to move very fast or act/react very fast as this game is not a run and gun adventure akin to a FPS.
In fact this linear side scroller has an old time pitfall feel to it with the handling of the very first prince of persia.
Less bright and with an overwhelming sense of dispair from the million and one things that seem to have it in for you're character.
The game itself wants to kill you and eat you're brains as one of it's biggest draws from it's debut was the touting that it was the hardest game ever.
It's heart is more of an action/story/puzzlegame where you're survival seems to hinge on figuring out what's going to try and kill you next a plant or a particular difficult jump and wether you have what you need to get to the next section.
Others may talk about it differently but this is how the game presented itself to me when i played it on the sega megadrive when that console system was popular.
If this hasn't given you an idea of the mood and hence atmosphere of anouther world i am truly sorry, but a further explanation would be futile and so i will just have to leave you to you're inevitable doom.
BTW you pushed the wrong lever :P
