So I've been playing Anno 1701 and it seems relatively buggy.

Three that come up:
* Sometimes if I swap out with the Windows key for the start menu, the Windows key remains stuck in an "on" state until I exit the game.
* Many bits of text are stuck in the German localization.
* Trade routes -- Seem somewhat broken. I created two near-identical trade routes. One from port A and B that moves Beer from B to A, and tools from A to B. Works fine. Another between A and C that moves Lamp Oil from C to A and tools back. It works only in the return trip. It refuses to load lamp oil!

Any suggestions? Sadly all the other sites for these games are stuck in German. :(

First I would make sure there's room in the ship. If the ship only has one cargo slot available for some reason, then it might run intro trouble if it fills that slot with tools, and then tries to load the lamp oil before unloading the tools. I don't know how the game decides whether it unloads or loads first though. Perhaps it always unloads first when it has to load and unload. Coming to think of it, perhaps the tools are maxed out C?

Other than that, and I don't know if the game will allow it, perhaps you can add port C a second time, as a third waypoint, eg:
waypoint 1 : A, load tools, unload lamp oil
waypoint 2 : C, unload tools
waypoint 3 : C, load lamp oil
This shouldn't be necessary, but it's worth trying I think.

Revision: it magically started to work, both routes, when I switched which of two ships (identical trade ships) were associated with each. Just swapped 'em.

Enabled the right click menu, some localization errors in there -- not even English vs German, but rather totally unassigned lookups.

That said, I'm really liking the game. I always wanted to enjoy the Anno series, but the UIs in the older ones were too clunky for even me.
