So, this is a longshot, but I figured I might try.

About two years ago, I recorded some Anachronox footage (GOG version) using Fraps for a Let's Play on Youtube. I didn't finish it, and recently felt like picking it up again. I've changed PCs since then (formerly WIndows 7, now Windows 10), and while Anachronox still works the same as before, Fraps will not recognize it as a source for capturing. No framecounter in the corner, no response if I press the recording hotkey. For the record, Fraps does capture most other games no problem.

I figure since Win10 is the main changed factor here, it's related to that. Does anyone have tips I can try to fix this? I've tried launching Anachronox with Windows 7 or 95/98 compatibility, as Administrator, I've tried changing my desktop resolution. Sorry, I know I'm basically asking for help with Fraps more than Anachronox, but I've run out of ideas to try and sources to google.

I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 where Fraps can capture Anachronox just fine, but aside from that laptop being a lot less powerful (risking big framedrops), I've not been able to capture sound on it without it sounding tinny and bad, no matter I change about my sound settings.

I've tried Shadowplay and OBS to capture as well, but Shadowplay makes Anox a dark mess, and I'm still struggling with getting OBS to get me the same quality I'm used to from Fraps.

EDIT: I've googled it more and found others who have problems getting Fraps to work with various games on Windows 10. Since Fraps is not getting updated more, it doesn't look like this is easily solveable. I had a spare hard drive lying unused, so I bought a cheap Windows 8.1 license key and created a secondary boot of Windows 8.1 on my PC. Now I can capture again!
