Any figured out an easy way to play this on OS/X? It would be so nice to not have to jump over to BootCamp just to play this old classic!

Have you tried it with Wineskin yet?

Wine's AppDB indicates that the GOG version should run on Wine in general, but sometimes (rarely) things that run on the Linux version of Wine don't work on Mac.

The important thing when setting it up with Wineskin is to use a version of Wine reported as working successfully in the AppDB. So in this case, try it with Wine version 1.5.20 or 1.3.18.
EDIT: It's worth noting that if GOG does release a Mac version of Anachronox, it's likely to just be using Wineskin. They've done that with other Windows ports. So doing it yourself is pretty close to what GOG would be doing anyway.

The game worked for me "out of the box" using wineskin with engine 1.7.8. No tricks needed.
