Anachronox may seem like a silly game, but it will take you on a very interesting journey that you'll not soon forget.

Dialogues are written so damn well in this game.
The Anachronox reality is an excellent satire, and the fourth wall breaking comments from strangers are equally impressive. Yup, it has a whole lot of faults, but the perks are perks to this day.

Now if we can get a proper remake ... plus a proper ending ... that would be swell. :)

Well, Anachronox, along with GEX and Fear Effect is one of the IPs Squeenix "gave" to the community, as part of the "Square Enix Collective" initiative, to get a reboot of sorts by indie dev members of the community. Fear Effect is frankly looking way better than the original games, to be fair, so here's to Anachronox getting a proper, decent title, too. Though I'm expecting it to be disappointing, no matter what, to the fanbase, as tends to be the case with cult titles.

It would feel so wrong if anyone besides Tom Hall made that game, and Tom Hall already went on record saying he will either own the license or not make that game. And SQE doesn't sell licenses to anyone, nor do they give them away. They're just looking into grabbing a bit of crowdfunding money with the SquareEnix Collective idea. :|

Things are looking very, very grim for Anachronox Re"boots" or Anachronox 2. :( :(

but the result was a completely broken game, i think the logical option here is to allow anyone but tom hall to re-build the game, also would like a D&D variation instead of the jap-based original

i would have rather collaborated with bioware to reduce risks

I'm sure he's well aware of what floated in the original and what didn't. :|

I'd rather have a proper JRPG, with the broken battle mechanics of Anachronox redesigned.

Well good-bye GOG version, then. :)

idk.. like the character control in dnd games, since character development is the cornerstone of any rpg, i believe there'd be more takers for the dnd version.. the sheer freedom of customization and complexity in dnd is something i like a lot

also, jap rpgs are kind of unbalanced going by what i experienced with ff8, was too easy (thats the only one i have played btw)

and forgot abt cd projekt red.. should pull out a good one with anox redux minus the drm.. sorry for that :)

D'awwww. Final Fantasy VIII even had enemy level scaling, which is an absolute no-go particularly in JRPGs. I'm a big FFVIII hater for its mechanics, I must admit. :)

As to D&D, I am right now replaying Knights of the old Republic and more and more, I'm convinced that mechanics designed for P&Ps just don't fit into CRPGs.

Let's hope CDPR gets it halfway right with Cyberpunk 2077...
