During the fight tutorial, I can get through the first bit, but once the guy tries to teach me my defensive ability I appear to 'die', and repeat the scene from earlier, when I am beaten up after leaving the starting area, but outside the world.

Any hints for this?

EDIT - Seems to have fixed itself when I reloaded the game. Strange.

This exact thing happened to me too, actually. I just reloaded my save and tried again and it worked that time, so that's the only solution I can suggest.

Thats the same place I got a crash, noticed the cursor was going through the floor at the time. Crashed and said anox.exe stopped working. Just reloading and starting from the autosave at the Whackhouse worked fine second time around. Its just one of those little random bugs that can happen with Anachronox at times.

At most.. it'll happen to you once.. a restart fixes it.

Happened to me as well. Will try reloading it if it happens again the next time I play.

For me, the cutscene where Boots gets his ass kicked by that brute played again, twice. After that, I was in the void and couldn't get out anymore. Will try reloading later, because it's late... ^_^

Yep, that's what happened in my case. When Whackmaster Jack comes to speak to you after completing a fight, I fell through the game world, got that cut scene and then reappeared in the ring for the next part of the fight.

At the end of that tutorial however, I not only fell through world, saw the cut scene again (mainly in green) but then continued to fall until I landed on the roof of the ring area and ultimately getting stuck there.

Even if you exit the game completely and then reload a prior save, it seems to fix the issue. So you should be okay when you next play it.

The question now, though, is does this happen in other parts of the game too?

Happened to me too. Hope the reload sorts it.

Is there a fix for this that can be applied to the game or are we doomed to having to reload, every time we have to do the fight tutorial?

Judging from GoG team response, several posts and my own experience. This appears to happen the first time you do the combat tutorial. I completed it and reloaded the auto-save for when I had entered the area. This time the tutorial and further on played fine.
