When I press F1-12 they do what they're assigned to do on the windows10 desktop of my laptop, not what they should do in game.
F11 just turns up the volume, for example, it doesn't activate the camera.

Anybody know how to fix/work around this?

I realize this reply is very late, but in case someone else has the same issue, my guess is it's related to the laptop having some sort of function key toggle. Trying e.g. FN+F11 might actually make the key register as F11 instead of "increase volume". Many laptops have a way to switch this behavior as well, so you can set the F1 - F12 keys to register as F1 - F12, and only use special Windows 10 operations like volume, brightness, etc. if you also hold FN. The specific way to get around his may depend on which laptop you have.
