*My Specs*
* OS - Win10 64-bit
* CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-core 3.60 GHz
* GPU - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (Using driver - 18.12.3
* RAM - 16 GB

Having trouble getting this to run at all. I hope someone out there knows a solution as nothing I've tried so far has really worked in a way that is playable.

Trying to run the game normally through Galaxy by clicking the green "Play" button causes the game to attempt to launch. It calls up a small window that is all grey and I get the error message "anox.exe has stopped working" and thats it. No amount of dicking around with settings has gotten me better results when trying to start the game this way. I've tried all the compatibility modes, running as admin, etc.

If I use the GCT Setup program in the games folder and try to launch the game using OpenGL I get the same results as above. Grey screen, error, etc.

If I install nGlide I have some results. I have to set the GCT Setup to 3DFX and 640x480 resolution. I then have to launch the game from the folder by using the "anox_v2v3.bat" file.
Doing this will get the game to actually call up to the main menu and, presumeably be playable. However this means having the minorly annoying WickedGL splash screen and the MAJORLY annoying spinning logo for WickedGL in the top right corner constantly.

So with nGlide and such its obvious that the game can actually RUN on my system "correctly" which leads me to believe that its something to do with OpenGL implementation with my AMD card. I've tried checking around but found no solutions for it anywhere.

Does anyone know a way to get game working correctly for me the normal, OpenGL, way on my system?
Alternatively, does anyone know how to get rid of that nauseating spinning WickedGL logo when running the game with nGlide in 3Dfx?

UPDATE (01/13/2019)
I found the problem and a workaround, but I'm unsure if its the "best" solution to the problem or not.

The problem is that the game uses OpenGL and I have an AMD graphics card. AMD has GARBAGE drivers / support when it comes to OpenGL. I wasn't about to go out and buy an nvidia card just to play old OpenGL games so I tried to track down an alternative solution.

I came across Mesa 3D ( GOG forums wouldn't let me post links but its this page - fdossena.com/?p=mesa/index.frag )
Mesa is an emulated OpenGL driver to allow running of OpenGL applications on hardware / systems that don't otherwise support OpenGL.

I took the risk and gave Mesa a shot. Shockingly... it worked! I was able to run the game. Unfortunately, I've never played the game before so I can't actually say if its working and displaying correctly or not.

So...

Has anyone actually played through this game using Mesa and can say whether or not its a viable solution? Ideally someone who has played the game in the past with it working correctly and knows the way it should look and run.

Alternatively, does anyone have any other functional solutions to get around the AMD OpenGL issues and allow the game to work as intended?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

The root cause of this problem is that game is not prepared for 3d accelerators with a lot of features implemented in the driver. The list of OGL extensions (which is just a string) is too long.That problem also manifests in other quake engine - based games. There are some OGL->D3D wrappers written, like the ones you have mentioned above. I would also suggest to try this one: https://github.com/crystice-softworks/QindieGL
Other hacks also may exist, for example, for original GLQuake, people were suggesting modification of the executable: https://web.archive.org/web/20150619222410/http://euksy.oldtimes-software.com/ext_limit_fix.html
