I Have a laptop 15.6", and there are two black bars on the side. Native reolution of my laptop is 1366 x 768 (Aspect ratio is 16:9). I don't mind going to a lower resolution, as long as black bars disapear. When I try to change resolution through setup or config file, it reverts back to low res and the black bars are still on the left and right side on screen. Anyway to stretch this out? Or get a reolution that the game supports in the 16:9 aspect ratio? Playing in windowed mode seems to cut things off at the top and bottom of the screen. I have windows 7 and have the game installed on my C drive (not program files).

Does anyone know of a fix . mod for this?

I'm pretty sure that the only way to get the game to run in a widescreen resolution involves cutting off the image at the top and bottom. The game unfortunately does not support widescreen resolutions properly.

If you want to stretch the image (and don't mind it being distorted) then you can probably arrange this in your video settings. Right-click on your desktop and go to "properties". See if there's a tab for your 3D graphics. Then look for options related to scaling. There should be something about whether you want to "preserve aspect ratio". If you turn "preserve aspect ratio" OFF, then the game will stretch to fit your screen instead of using black bars.

This is pretty easy to do on a desktop that has either an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, but if you are using onboard graphics on your laptop then I'm not sure how easy it will be. Hopefully there's still a setting for it though.

Keep in mind that stretching the image will probably look pretty weird... I personally prefer to have the black bars.

Thanks, Walt. Too bad. I guess I'll just play it with the bars.
There's some more info in this thread:

Looks like you can at least increase the resolution, even if it isn't widescreen.
same problem here, cant find any solution :(
Search Google for "widescreen anachronox hacks".

The first result should take you to WSGF, people seem to have no issues running the game using these hacks.

Keep original executable and dll in case you need them again by renaming the extension to .bak (or whatever).
