Windows 8.1
Game installs and updates fine.
Menu screen loads fine.
If I try to start new game or quit - the screen goes black and stays there.
Task manager says that rgss3 player(32 bit) is not responding and always sometimes monsters is not responding.
My cpu goes up and past 50%.
I've updated all the usual stuff to no avail. I have tried adding the game to dep, still no change.
I've tried compatibility modes etc.
Did anyone else overcome this prob?

Edit: Uninstalled my codec pack and installed this one X-Codec-Pack-2.6.4
Game now runs!
