Had some serious lag at first, for about 5-10 minutes. Not sure if that was caused by the game, the server, or maybe it was me (I think I was the game host), but it seemed to clear up after a bit. All in all, it was about an average online FPS experience for me. Considering that this is a beta test for multiplayer, I'd say it's a pretty decent success. Still crossing my fingers in hopes of getting AvP2. :D Seriously want to play a facehugger hunting Marines. My verdict? GOG rocks. Period.
I had terrible lag at start before I changed the resolution. Game started in the lowest possible one. I change it to full HD, have luck to join exactly the same server and the problem was gone, the game moves like a dream.
I don't know if resolution was the cause of this, I'm just relating my experience.
Hope that there will be Ground Control and Carmageddon 2 client in the future :D
So far, everything runs smoothly. I never had the chance to play AvP online back in the day, and it's awesome to get to now. My biggest problem is that I don't have as much time as I'd like to get good at it.
I'm a bit offtopic here, so forgive me, but i just realised that when i last played this game, i was still on 56k dialup... and the impulses were not free... how times have changed!
So far I have played about 90 minutes of multiplayer and have not seen anybody play with a ping higher than 200. I have been very impressed with out smooth it feels.
I get a connection error every time I try to connect to a game.
It worked totally fine for me. I was able to join several matches, all different game types, and play for an hour or two without a hitch.

As for AvP, it is surprisingly fun. I love the maps that offer some verticality so that the Aliens can really spread out and stalk their prey. I played this a tiny bit back in the day on the old MPlayer client, but that was 56k garbage. It never ran this buttery smooth, so I never really got a feel for what the game was like.

I'm really excited to see what games GOG brings this to next.

Thanks for the info. I was having the exact same problem.
Can you see ping times somewhere?
had a little trouble connecting to a couple games, but no problems hosting them.
I seem to have serious lag on opponent placement, to the point where it is impossible to hit them. Admittedly this has only been in a couple of games so far.

Saludos!
Booted 5 out of 5 games,
Well, it was smooth sailing for me, I was quite surprised to not experience a single glitch throughout... Very pleased to see people online, lurking about and eating each others faces and what not! ;D

Well done, GOG.com! :)

P.S. A few specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Sapphire AMD Radeon R7 260x...

Worked great for me. Had a little trouble getting into one game, but all the rest I tried worked perfectly. No lag, no problems... apart from the fact that I suck at the game, of course...

Hit tab.

As for my online thoughts, it would be nice to have an external browser like in the old days, but hey at least this works. I saw the usual AVP nonsense like lag, players getting stuck in place, aliens warping around, etc, but I can't say that that's anything to to with the gog network.
