Yay! Another bug! This time, a major one! :D

I just recently finished the Marine campaign and started playing through the bonus levels that unlock afterwards. I noticed that "Bonus I: Temple" had a target to beat of <100% health damage taken, so I decided to go for it. Took a few restarts (damn Praetorians), but I did it. I went to the cheat menu to see what I unlocked, but as soon as I scrolled to the new cheat, the game crashed, becoming completely unresponsive. Had to kill it through the task manager, which was harder than it needed to be, as the game disables the mouse when in the menu, as well as screwing with your resolution. I tried several times to select it, but each and every time, the game just crashed.

At first, I couldn't tell which cheat I had unlocked because the menu just locks up instantly without refreshing when trying to select it, but after a bit of sleuthing, I deduced that it was the "Freefall" cheat. Trying to select it from either direction (left or right) doesn't change the result, i.e. the game crashing. All the other cheats can be seen, but as soon as that one is highlighted, the game dies.

As before, tech specs are:

Win7 SP1 64-Bit
Quad-core i5-4440 3.1Ghz
GeForce GTX 760 w/ 2Gbs VRAM
16Gbs RAM
Drivers are up to date.

So, anyone got any ideas for this one? :P

The most likly answeer is that the files for cheats are not in (this copy) of the game. The stated idea is to test muliplayer and it's hard to see how this has any thing to do with that but good luck with it anyway.

The stated idea? That's the stated idea of galaxy. The stated idea of releasing the game is so people can play it, single player and multiplayer alike. What you're saying is just ridiculous.
Very strange. I just tried this on both the Steam and GOG versions and it didn't crash. The Marine bonus mission loaded fine with the Freefall cheat activated.

AvP isn't released on GOG yet. This "special" release was offered only to beta-test participants and comes bundled with Galaxy so it's not ridiculous to suggest some features are limited/disabled.

Which is why I didn't post this in the multiplayer feedback thread and made a new topic for it. If a feature is broken, tech team need to know so it can be fixed, regardless of the state of release. I can also scroll through all the other cheats I've unlocked so far without a hitch, it's just this one single entry that causes the game to crash. Multiplayer doesn't have anything to do with it, this is all singleplayer stuff.

Hmm, odd. Well, my problem isn't loading the level, that loads fine, it's just trying to highlight the cheat in the menu. Unfortunately, I don't get any kind of error message, the game just locks up entirely, forcing me to kill it through the task manager.

Except why would this one specific, unlock-able cheat for the singleplayer be disabled in such a manner that simply highlighting it in the menu causes the game to crash? Doesn't make sense. As far as I can tell so far, having beaten every Alien mission, and nearly all the Marine missions, the game is 100% intact, minus a couple of minor issues. Nothing has been removed either by Rebellion, or GoG.

This is, plain and simple, a bug. :3

Yay! Can I possibly be of some...(gulp)...help?

I've spotted this bug before in the Steam version of the game. I'm assuming you have at least two profiles in your version of AVP Classic 2000. If you have two save profiles, the second one will not be able to select FreeFall. This has absolutely nothing to do with the GOG version, as it happens in the Steam one as well. I noted this in my guide on unlocking the cheat modes (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=267961482). In the FAQs section, I write: "...The only other glitch related to the cheat modes I've ever encountered is, if you have a second profile, for some reason trying to select FreeFall in the cheat options section of the second profile will freeze the game up. I have no idea how or why this happens."

I haven't encountered this problem when I only had one profile. I had created a new one to make videos demonstrating how to get the cheat modes.

Sorry to throw a wrench in your theory, as it were, but I only have the one profile. It is also the initial profile I created when I installed the game, so it's not even as if I created a profile, deleted it, then made a new one. Everything is fresh and new.

This seems like it's one of those random bugs that strikes because reasons, and it'll be a pain for the tech team to nail down.

Interesting. Well, good to know. I can still select FreeFall in my GOG version. There are a couple things I can think you can do besides just not selecting FreeFallin the cheat options menu. The first is to start a new profile, re-obtain the cheat mode, and see if that allows you to select FreeFall. The second is to download Mad_MaxRW's completed profile (available here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/aliens-versus-predator-classic-redux/downloads/complete-profile). This profile has all the cheat modes already unlocked. If you go about the second route, I'd personally recommend doing this once you've unlocked all the cheat modes on your own, but if you really want to play FreeFall, that's something you can try.

Nah, I don't particularly, but it's functionality that isn't working.

Further to my OP as well, I unlocked the SuperGore cheat last night, and now I can't scroll left or right in the cheat menu, because both the SuperGore and FreeFall cheats cause the game to crash when highlighted, at least as far as I can tell. I see no reason why the game would place the FreeFall cheat to both the right and left of the PigSticking cheat. This is doubly annoying because SuperGore is my favourite cheat on the list, for probably obvious reasons.

This are to be the borked, GoG. We can has fix now, please?

Interestingly enough, the tech team gave me just that profile during my conversation with them. As it happens, the bug itself only seems to rear its ugly head on profiles that haven't unlocked all the cheats yet, while completed profiles don't seem to suffer with it. Odd, but there you go.

According to the rep I was talking to, Konrad, the problem has been sent up the chain for the code boys to look at, so maybe this'll end up getting fixed.

I don't think that's the problem, because I unlocked all the cheat modes on a second profile and FreeFall didn't work on that profile. It does work on my first profile which also has all the cheat modes unlocked.
