Reading the overview on GOGs gamecard page seems a little confusing as it doesn't seem to tie in with the nature of the game itself. Also, it seems to come to a bit of an abrupt end. Am I missing something? (For ease of reference I've copied and pasted GOG's overview below).

Overview:
During the first half of the 21st century, the war on terror became a global phenomenon, as more blatant and frenzied attacks struck deeper into the lives of common people. Inevitably, the public outcry to stop the madness grew to an irresistible level; the military forces of the world slowly but steadily retooled their approach, weapons, and tactics to combat people who were willing to die for their cause. One of the consequences was the harassment of civilians on an unprecedented scale, leaving destruction and misery in its wake.

The world was soon rebuilt and a new age of prosperity and technological progress began. Science focused on creating a viable fusion power source and new technologies which would exploit this new power. A group of corporations was granted almost total freedom in order to pursue these goals. This may have seemed dangerous a hundred years ago, but in 2112 it was considered appropriate and was supposed to foster creativity and growth on an unprecedented scale. It didn't.

So, anyone know?

UPDATE: I've since looked at the overview for Alien Shooter 2 in a number of places and they all have this overview (or some similar extract). Still I cannot make any sense for how it fits in with the game. Does it make sense once you start playing it?
Not really, no. It's fairly clear when you start playing the game that some big corporation has done some experiments with parallel universes, and (just as in Half-Life) this has meant that aliens have started teleporting in. But what is said in the first paragraph is not relevant at all. The second paragraph, well, maybe, but that's like trying to fit a story into Doom...
Is this game and several others from Sigma (Alien Shooter, Alien Shooter 2, Zombie Shooter, Zombie Shooter 2) using the same engine? Is it Sigma's own engine? Or someone else's?
