As others before me, I apparently can´t change my game´s resolution. I can click on the various settings, but the "OK"-button is grayed out and nothing changes. I tried using the tools.exe, also with disabling compatibilty mode etc. as suggested on this forum, but trying to manipulate resolutions this way leads to the game not starting at all, which can only be solved by reinstalling the game (I think). Also, I don´t know if these could be connected, but my game doesn´t recognize my Nvidia MX130 mobile graphics card and insists on using the Intel UHD 620, even refusing to start at all when I switch off the Intel altogether (Grafikanzeige konnte nicht initialisiert werden, or something like that).
However, I was asking myself if changing the resolution would even do anything in so old a game, other than zooming out and enabling widescreen? But I guess it should, or it wouldn´t have a separate zoom function?
Thanks for any kind of help.
Edit: Appears I was posting too fast, for it works now. Not in widescreen, highest is 1280x1024, but I´m okay with that. Guess it must have been me setting only the tools.exe on "run as administrator", didn´t notice that the actual thing is apparently done by that other exe in the same folder. With both on admin setting, I was able to switch resolutions to "benutzerdefiniert", and can now set my resolution in-game. Seems to have lead to slight loading issues, but I think it will be okay.
Now I only need to tackle that birthrate thing, and I can finally play this the way I did 20 years ago...
