After having a look around the net, i managed to find that if you add " -nohwcursor" to the target bar, of the shortcut to the game, it reduces some flickering, but only when fully zoomed out.
Basically, if you move the mouse, the water and ground of the game seems to turn black, creating this nasty flickering. Is there a way to tottally remove it?
FIXED
After reading one of the other posts here (which i should have done first >_< ), turning off vsync on my graphics card fixed it...
So, if anyone else has this problem -->
Turning off vsync in your grahpics card = No screen flickering when moving the mouse ^^

Same here, cant fix this and start playing :(
Same for me, scrolling doesn´t work right, is not fluent on a sufficiently powered machine. Have also experienced mouse flickering. Everything else like the intro problems described in other threads did not occur on my system. I would really like to know what´s going on.

By the way, after doing some research on the jowood-pages i found out that these problems have already occured in 2002 when the game originally came out. Looked like the troubles got worse with every new system. Frankly, i don´t suppose this game is well programmed. Might explain a little of the trouble jowood is in right now. And i hope things like this won´t ruin the reputation of gog.com as well, which is otherwise a great initiative.

So does that mean the problem can't get fixed? :( This game sounds pretty fun though.
It is indeed a very nice game. There is so much going on from what i could see that it is almost overwhelming. Families move into homes, get babies, teenagers get training, people get depressed and happy again, this is definitely much more than just a rip-off from the first settlers games. Also the graphics are still very appealing, they would be even more so if scrolling worked correctly.

As i understood the jowood-forums discussions there is a certain chance that your machine configuration may prevent the game from working correctly. There are a couple of patches out there, but the gog.com version is already up to date. So i suppose you won´t be able to get it to work if you experience these problems. Needless to say jowood have obviously never managed to erase the trouble.

Still, a short message from gog.com officials would be nice, just to clear out any misunderstandings. I myself have already tried a lot of suggestions from this here forum (eg. nations tools) plus some tricks that came to my mind, with no luck.
I have the same problem, and the graphical glitch makes the game unplayable.
still getting no replies from the gog team ><
Still, after 7 years the problem still persist.

I couldn't find a thread, which would solve this efficiently.
I have the same problem :(
