Any one know how to process steel

yeah, i cant even find a place for a mine, or am i just stoopid?

I believe (if I remember correctly) from playing The Nations it had to be a certain scenario that you produce steel. Also, I think it comes later in the game not right off even if there is an area for it.

Steel requires a mine. Mines requires metallurgy technology. The mine has to be built on a mountaintop. The mine (is the only building that) can be built outside your city limits. You also need a stonecutter to work inside.
Ps: A storage unit nearby should help speed things up, if the cost is worth it.

If you are playing Alien Nations 2 you need to locate a vein instead of a mountaintop.
The trick is placing the mine just right, in front of the correct type of vein.

It is a very long process. For this you will have to study metallurgy. Got it...?

Stone Cutter? In Nations Gold?

Never saw it in my list... Where is that supposed to be? I've done all the researches and I never saw a stone cutter. Do you mean stone handler? You can have them even at the start of the level I think..
For metal, I thought you needed a Smith!? Isn't it? Sorry if I'm wrong...
