it looks like they scooped GOG to the punch.

It's a shame really, because I think GOG's version would be higher quality, but people are going to go "look at the price tag, the games not even available yet, it's cheaper on GG."
so sad.
They have The Nations and The Nations Gold there as well:

http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?page=product&what=view&sku=DD-NATIG
But they will probably not even work.
The system requirement listed is Windows 95/98, so there is no guarantee it will work on a XP or a Vista Computer, and there are some indications that there are indeed some problems:
Look at the user review for the Nations Gold, it doesn't work for that person. Now take a look at the Nations, it has no written reviews but two scores together giving it a rating of "1" (which is the lowest), which to me suggest it didn't work for those people either.
While this is not some really constitutive evidence, it does give an indication that the game might just not work unless one have access to an older computer, or luck.
So I will personally wait for GOG's release, even though I am a long term customer of Gamersgate. But it is indeed sad.

I actually use a virtual machine to run my older games. :D
I have been hoping that gog would get The Nations (gold was a free download) as opposed to Alien Nations the older of the games.

I don't know what's the price for you, due to possibly other geographic regions. For me it says 4.99€ (6.98$) which is more expensive than it was on GOG. With this week's promo I paid 8.98$ (6.42€) on GOG for both games together. Without the promo, Alien Nations alone would be 5.99$ (4.28€) on GOG so still cheaper.
Also, the second game doesn't seem to be on GG anymore, but now is on GOG.
Note: Numbers in brackets by € <-> $ conversion done by Google, rounded by me to full cents
EDIT: Reply to posting below: It was well worth the necromancing to tell that it's cheaper on GOG.com now. :-)

a lot can change in the course of a few months, I posted that in march.
you silly necromancer.
I can vouch for Gogs games working better then gamersgate.
I actually discovered both sites at a similar time and only bought the nations here on GoG because the gamersgate version doesnt work for me at all (and support has yet to answer me D: ). GOG games have all worked fine after download with a minimum of fuss, so they got my loyalty now and I have 5 GOG games so far ^^
Yeah, for older games GOG is the way to go for sure.
