m confused, its called alien nations(wich is refered to as alien nations 2) but there also is the nations (gold edition), what is what and who is who?

I also have a problem, when starting Alien Nations, its starts fine but when starting campaign or never ending game, it crashes and says dv.exe stopped working.
What is dv.exe as the exe of the game is an.exe?

Alien Nations is the first game and The Nations is the second game.
The games are developed by two different studios. I don't know if that's why the games has two different names, but it's still the same game serie. The Nations also has just a little bit more polished graphics.
