The aliasing is really horrible in this game, and sadly almost no settings seem to affect it.
It's sad, since it looks so amazing except that, and it breaks immersion quite a bit.
It's well known that it's kind of broken in the game, and someone made a mod for it that apparently makes it really smooth...

...but, it only works for the Steam version.
Seems kind of advanced, so sadly no simple copy folder and it's done, but rather integrated into Steam launcher.

Anyone have any ideas hot to fix our GOG version?
Or find out how that mod works and make it a manual install that works for all?

Rendering at 4k and downsampling to 1440p makes it A BIT better but still looks bad, and also it makes a mess when you exit the game and return to desktop and all windows are resized and rearranged cause the temporary resolution change...
Forcing 8x aliasing in Nvidia drivers doesn't seem to help at all either.

Here is the mod that fixes it for Steam-version:

there is a "fork" for the Epic version, you could give it a try:

Can't get it to work, trying to run it like this, with the correct settings in the game as the description says.

epicisolation.cmd c:\"GOG Games"\"Alien Isolation"\AI.exe

EDIT: Not using Galaxy - half the reason I'm only on GOG is cause I want to avoid launchers :)

i've not downloaded/tested anything, but your path doesn't look correct.
it should look like this: epicisolation.cmd "c:\GOG Games\Alien Isolation\AI.exe"

Thanks, but I'm still getting this:

"aliasIsolationInjector.exe AI.exe process not found"

you could try to just drop the AI.exe on the epicisolation.cmd

That's pretty smart!
It works, it starts the game!

It just doesn't work properly for some reason, cause it still looks exactly the same - creeping jaggies all over the place :(

CA off, motion blur on, and SMAA x1, as in the instructions.

Anyone else trying and getting the mod to work?
Proably noone wants to play this "vanilla", if there is anything we can do about this issue...

ok, It is a pity but worth a try. maybe it needs an update.
The epic version of the mod works fine for me.
I put all the mod files into a folder "AliasIsolation" in the game directory and start the game with a batch like "StartAI.cmd":

@echo off
start /b "" AI.exe
start /b /wait "" /d "AliasIsolation" AliasIsolation\aliasIsolationInjector.exe .\AI.exe
exit
You will only see if it works after starting/continuing a game, since the logo doesn't show up at the title screen.

Remember that you can toggle the mod with CTRL-Insert and CTRL-Delete.

Amazing - many thanks!!!

The difference is incredible!
Only downside is that this gets some Chromatic Abberation back, and I don't know how to turn it off inside the mod, but it's way better than the aliasing so it's a fair trade...

EDIT: Changing the value in this line (in chromaticAberration_ps.hlsl) affects the amount of CA.

float ca_amount = 0.018 * g_caAmount;

I find 0.010 is a reasonable amount if you just want a tiny bit of CA. Put it to 0 to eliminate it totally.

Right seems like you're all using using the wrong Mod exe

I've got Steam version of AI @ launch, and bought this on first day of sale, this mod has a GUI, why you all messing with command line BS.
Just use the GUI, set your path with that, and launch the game, to set things up.

Take note of the in game settings requirements {see above GUI image

Not checked whether it's fully working as designed, but I just used the GUI to launch the game, which were the issues expressed by OP using command line, and it does that as it always has.

From my experience, as someone that has bought both Steam originals, and much delayed GOG release, for at least 100 good games, It's very rare for mods made for Steam version not to work for both games, even exe injectors like this, are rarely affected by DRM removal.

I always just launched the GUI, and launched the game with that.

Yeah, it seems like the original mod with GUI support also works with the GOG version.
Other than that, I prefer it the other way around: Why use a crappy GUI, when you can use the command line ... ;)

You just said why "it just works" (says Todd Howard), and also easier to tweak Chromatic Aberration + Sharpening with the sliders while testing, even if you switch to Command line once values are set, and GUI is always welcome for the less adept at modding, it even gives a useful reminder of in game setting requirements.

It's about having more user options to choose from, which is what modding is essentially all about.
