Yep, moving towards specific direction (for example a shield or a sword that is placed just 1 extra square behind the counter...) and richt-clicking the mouse in the right moment allows you to extend the reach of your mouse pointer by 1 or even 2 squares.
The loot overall is not great but it makes a gamer happy to get "something extra"
Note: that not all items are pickable, some are just hard-set graphics and not as "live" objects. But in first city there is something in each shop that can be acquired this way. Especially in the weapon shop but also the trainer has nice stuff (but the Trainer has the items 2 extra squares away and reaching out so far needs practice AND luck)
Anyway, another tip for free stuff:
The healing potion dealer in mage's guild, randomly gifts you free blue potion of health (worth 16 gold - quite nice), the ratio of success is quite high: probably 20 or even 30%.
Hunting down Krondirs is nice, but hey... what if all Krondirs are gone? What now? Do not fear my friend, just enter city gates 10-20 times and this will respawn all wild animals in the jungle (on first island) And extra XP, gold is assured.
Ok, now I have plenty of stuff to sell..but all the shops have full inventory slots... a bugger, right?
1) you will be able to return to the first city, you can pile up available chests. (same goes for gold and food, both gold an food are heavy to drag it all on yourself... keep only smart part of it and store the rest somewhere. No matter what may happen to you on your journey, Albion will provide you with food and even gold... no need to be obsessive about them)
2) Buy out items that can be "joined" and sell them only to one merchant (items of same type will stock up, so if you sell small shield to 4 merchants, you waste 4 unique slots, buy 3 of them and sell them to just one merchant)
3) There is traveling merchant near the fountain south of Weapon shop (north east part of town), Just talk to the right guy in the 3D city environment, ask about "Wania", "Wares"... and you can access his inventory (nearly empty, so excellent for selling any extra stuff that Warniaks, Krondirs or Skrinns drops)
Anyway, it is not gold that really helps you surviving in the wild or in the dungeons. Here is a useful tip: Magic. Sira's Magic.
In her home guild she can learn spells for free (yay, no gold needed)
Trick is, that the cool stuff is taught first when specific level is reached (9): Do not underestimate this... level Sira up so she can learn Frost Avalanche. It will take extra time to make this spell be effective (each use increases the spell power, so don't expect it be super powerful on first use... but wait for it, you will love it)
And then, when you survive long enough...yeah, gold will matter again :) (Lugh's Dagger, or trainer that increases critical chance for a LOT of gold per one point..) but to get there... you want go the path with Thunderstorm, trust me.
