Based on the size this doesn't appear to be the CD version but I don't know what the difference between the versions is anyway. Does anyone know? Is it just audio tracks or is there more stuff? Also, will we be getting the CD version eventually?
The game was only released on cd. There are no audio tracks, just the midi sound of this version.

Albion uses MIDI-tracks as background music and with the corresponding libraries it sounds very good also today. :-) The game was only released on CD but in its size not that big.

I have original Albion CD - the game standalone (ALBION directory) has 116 MB, other space on CD-ROM is filled with DEMOS (270 MB) and VIDEOS (145 MB) of further Blue Byte projects like - Battle Isle 3, Archimedean Dynasty, Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase, Extreme Assault, Incubation and Settlers 2.
No CD audio tracks.

Well shucks.

Anyway, thanks guys, I couldn't tell for sure from the information I found online, looks like there is no reason not to pick this up.

No. The game was planed for the Amiga, but a finished version was never released.

The DOS version presumably. Here's a post from one of the programers mentioning they switched to DOS because Commodore went bankrupt: http://www.intelligent-artifice.com/2013/02/why-we-called-our-game-albion.html

Also here's the file for the Amiga demo, which again mentions it was originally planned for the Amiga: http://aminet.net/package/game/demo/albion So unless your game looked like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrvh601ZRlk you didn't play an Amiga version.

If it really was on the Amiga it was probably Ambermoon?

Jepp - aber wen wunderts :)

It's made by the same developers and, originally they wanted to make the Amber* games a trilogy but only 2 were made (Amberstar, Ambermoon). So I guess there's a chance Albion was originally meant to become the third game in the series and, for whatever reason, after they moved to BlueByte, they wanted/had to change it into a another game.
