I have no idea how do I go about changing the movement controls to WASD but I have no idea where to start. The obvious answer would be in the config files but I have no idea which one they are in and don't want to go changing things unless I am 100% sure I know what I am doing.

You will need to use the keymapper included with DOSBox in order to do this. Just start the game and then press CTRL+F1. This will bring up the keymapper. There you need to change the WASD keys to act as the cursor keys (e.g. click on "w", then on the Add button, and then press Cursor Up). Once you're done, click on Save, and you're back in the game.
Thanks for the replay but for whatever reason it not working for me. I did as you asked and nothing. I even tried doing it the other way (clicked cursor up, then add, and then w on my keyboard).

I have been deleting any binds that I create (I have kept the original bind that is there by default). I have no idea what is wrong.

Well, I had it the wrong way around in my instructions, so changing it around was correct on your part. My instructions were also incomplete. I only rarely use the keymapper, so I've forgot an important part. Here are the proper instruction (I also tested them again, just to make sure):

1. Click on Cursor Up, then click on Add, and then press the W on your keyboard

2. Click on Cursor Up, then click on Next until the Cursor Up binding appears, then click on Del

3. Click on the W, then click on Add, and then press Cursor Up on your keyboard

4. Click on the W, then click on Next until the W binding appears, then click on Del

5. Now click on Save

If you don't do step two, pressing W will register as both W and Cursor Up. Same for Cursor Up, if you don't do step 4. Moving the WASD keys to the Cursor keys is necessary, because you will need the A and S key at a later point in the game.
Thank you so much for helping. Worked like a charm. :)
Interestingly, that remapping totally doesn't work for me. It's like the input is lagging when I bind the keyboard movement to WASD, yet the arrow keys work just as they should. I haven't seen that kind of issue in other DOSBox'ed games before. Weird.
