Since GoG Alan Wake isn't a steamworks game, does it have internal achievements? I know I know but I am addicted to achievements in games. Its the game inside the game and increases my enjoyment. I'm not ruling out buying Alan Wake on GoG is it doesn't have achievements but it would make my decision to buy a lot easier.

Doubt it has achievements, but as you say AW on GoG is pretty good all around anyway...

I haven't installed the GoG version yet, but the Steam achievements were all handled in steamworks, if memory serves. So no, there are no internal achievement trackers.

But you do have the collection aspect of the manuscript pages. That might help.
It still would be possible to have achievements in a Steam-free version. I bought Defense Grid with a recent Indie Royale bundle. No Steam neccessary but I still get information about all achievements. :)

That is because Defense Grid has internal achievement tracking, if memory serves.

A good rule of thumb: If there is a menu option for "achievements" that shows your progress and what not in-game, it probably handles it internally (and just outputs "Unlock this achievement" to steamworks). If, instead, the only way you can see what achievements you have is to open the steam overlay: That is purely steamworks.

There is a section in-game that has A LOT of your statistics.

Though, there isn't Achievements, if you mean in the Steam-style or G4WL-style...
