The version of Alan Wake on GOG lets you turn the hud off. The option is in the menus. Thankfully, it keeps essential information necessary to play the game.

When I first tried it on consoles, it didn't have this option and I put off buying it. I'm posting this information for those who were wondering about the GOG version.
