Hey everyone. I was seeing all the hype for for Alan Wake 2 so I decided to buy the first game on steam while it was on sale since Iv never played it. The problem is the performance is terrible on my brand new pc. It still drops below 60 on low setting. I’m using a 6700 xt and a 5600x3D. But get this, I also installed the game on my older gaming laptop that has 1650 in it and it maxed the game out with no problems whatsoever. Does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? and before you ask, my drivers are up to date and don’t have any problems with other games. Control runs great for example.

I haven't encountered this in general, but the game engine certainly has it's flaws.
If I remember correctly it can have problems if your CPU has more than 4 cores. I know it's somehow possible to limit the number of cores usable for a program, but don't ask me why. That's what Google is for.
Also this could be one of the games requiring a swap file, no matter how much RAM you have. Make sure you have one set up, something between 1 and 4 GB.

Lust but not least be aware that not all platforms have the same game version. For a long time I considered the DRM free version on Humble to be the best one, but now the one on GOG is at least equal. The one on Steam might have problems which the one on GOG doesn't have. I never played it, just started it once a long time ago to see the version number.
