The game starts up and I hear the music, but the screen is black. I'm guessing the full screen is responsible since I see something scrolling by until the game window goes fullscreen. Is there a command line or config file option for disabling full screen?

I know this is an old topic, but when I have display problems with unity games in Linux usually deleting the preferences in ~/.config/unity3d/ will allow it to generate a working configuration file on the next start-up. For AI War the complete path is ~/.config/unity3d/Arcen Games, LLC/AI War/prefs

You could also modify this file yourself, but try deleting it first, it'll almost certainly generate properly next time you run the game. Most commercial games for Linux use unity, so it's worth remembering this path next time you have a problem with a GOG game.
