So this is somewhat two things bundled into one.
Firstly, and I'll start with what I feel is more important, is *almost* consistently reproducable crashes in manual combat. I was able to get through all of the Fire campaign without a single crash; even my long Fire Specialty mission.
In the first Water mission however, I regularly get crashes whenever a Ballista attacks a Cannon. The moment the bolt hits, CTD with no warning. Playing on Medium graphics, AoWCompat launcher, and with Direct3D off.
I recall a year or so ago I had problems with Doom Bats attacking at times, and when one of my Catapults would be attacked by a Stoning ability, I sent an email to GoG's support but the problem was never identified or resolved. Today, running into it again and I just don't know what to do.
I tried skipping this particular battle, then coming back later and once again, the AI would start it off by shooting my Cannon with a Ballista and instant CTD on damage.
Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Is there a way to fix it? Auto-Combat resolution does not produce this problem even in the afflicted battles, only manual.
*edit to add* that after winning the battle, other Ballistae that shoot my cannons don't crash the game. It seemingly only happened in that one battle. Checking aow2Log.txt displays "Error during FX Update" twice before stating the application closed.
Second, there's something I've never quite understood about the Shrine Spirits.
When you decline a quest (Which I often do with Spirit of Nature quests or when Spirit of War provides an insanely impossible request ), is there any negatives attached to this? How often can you decline a quest before they get ticked off, if ever?
Similarly, when they start giving threatening messages, like when selling their shrines, does this matter or is it just flavor text and idle threats? Is there any real negative consequences to this beyond losing their bonus - and likely making it harder to regain their trust in the future? Can you even regain their trust after you've ticked them off?
