In my case the battle happened in shadow realm, no fort, so everyone attacked first turn.

Castor Ulrin, day 2

We advance in the dark thanks to a digging goblin found lost in the dirt. This avoids a bunch of guarding dwarves but slows us down, I wonder if it's the right call. To HELL with this, may choices and qualms burn forever!
Dwarves, Day 2

We maximize our combat, but now must slow down for healing. Not sure if there was a better option, but at least I don't live in a democracy.

OOC: I'm still getting two notices of game files in the email wrapper program. I've ended / deleted one of them. Hopefully it doesn't cause a restart on my next turn. That would suck since these are pretty action packed turns!

This bug occurred on a previous PBEm and did nothing serious.

Night time some guard areas jump out of the shadows or the mists and... Kill my digger. Yay. I dig. This is bound to slow me down. A lot!

What a start. This map is evil!

Greenmoster levelled: between defence and phase, I chose phase after thinking about it for more time that I'd like to admit. Opinions?

Phase definitely. Once you have Greenmonster kitted out to higher attack and defense than your enemy, phasing over walls and into rear areas will net you a ton of easy kills and XP. Makes up for having your strong Warrior stuck by himself in the 2nd row when battle starts. :)

I'm jealous. I got the choices Resistance, Trap, and Damage. Trap is fool's gold for a Warrior, though if I could replay battles over and over and over, it would be well worth it...

Dwarves, Day 3

We did some stuff that made our King happy. And then we did some stuff that made all our people angry. it's tough balancing the needs of the King versus the needs of the little people.

I believe there's another that can be recruited from a recruitment site - a stone golem, perhaps.
Halflings Day 3

Why would the prison send less powerful guards than the ones we defeated when we broke out of our cells? This is not an effectively fun prison.

Castor Ulrin, day 4

Finally some good news, Swolte himself pledges alliance to my cause. There's hoping that having on my side no less than the author's personification will bring me some better luck with the roaming parties.

And to test if I jinxed myself by saying that I attack some resources to only lose an assassin, a priest and almost a warlord. Uff. Nothing to do, the map hates me. In the meanwhile, Greenmoster digs on... Sure, in future I'll be able to recruit some other digger but losing one at the beginning means that the delay will grow exponentially.

Things have briefly looked good but look bad again...
Dwarves, Day 4

We see some folks that would likely love to join our escape plan, but we give them the palm. No time for allies when there is gold to be mined. Dwarves gotta be Dwarves.

TS
Mr Reginald Underwood, Esq., Duly Appointed Mayor of the Halflings, Day 4, Shire Reckoning,

A most noble and gracious hero offered up his services to me on this day. How he was communicating with me from his position on the surface, I am not quite sure. Perhaps its more of this so-called 'magic' that I possess. In any case, I was all too happy to oblige. I am not sure if he can facilitate my escape in any more of an expedient fashion than I myself and my growing mob of escapees are already doing, but it certainly cannot hurt. In any case, the income in both gold and magical crystals he brings to the table more than makes up for any shortcomings due to distance, and I am grateful for it. Not only that, but this Fromage 67 seems to inhabit a veritable Shangri-La, a land of milk and honey, a cornucopia, if you will, where happy, barefoot halflings do wander idly, just waiting to be enlisted into my new surface army. Not only that, but the dutiful Fromage was able to recruit yet another hero to my cause, though he is something of a Creepy Fellow. Nevertheless, I consider my fortunes to now be strictly on the Up and Up, as they say, and I have no doubt that my newly knighted Sir Rosen Stern shall set to work with his, er, uh, chicken foot, and dig us free, posthaste!

As ever, I remain,

Your humble servant,

R. Underwood.

PS - I must send a note to Fromage about the somewhat alarming number of unsavory rogues populating my troops.

Castor Ulrin, day 5

A camp offers to join my cause! Yay! It's... A bunch of giant ticks? Ugh. Swolte kills them and finds a helm that lets him see faraway. With it he sees that... Oh my, everyone, their sister and the kitchen sink are gunning for him. Swolte drops a sweat!

I find a dwarven city and singlehandedly capture it, there's hoping that there aren't any dwarves hiding in the shadows in the next room to jump me... Wouldn't this be a proper epitaph.
Dwarves, Day 5

That was fun! We put our pick axes to work and finally have struck gold, beautiful gold, veins of gorgeous gold. And like all Dwarves, we rub it all over our bodies in ecstasy. Okay, maybe that's just me and my personal predilection rather than a Dwarf thing...

A day or two ago, we also added a nasty woman to our entourage. She's evil and sprays webs all over our opponents. While we don't really approve, she is serving well as my champion's right hand woman. Webbed opponents are much, much easier to stick with sharp objects than non-webbed opponents. Though she's truly an evil person, I think I'll keep her around for awhile.
