Just installed this, the intro movie plays the sound but is stuck on what must be the first frame of the video, this isn't a big problem, I can just skip it I guess, but what is a problem is that the game won't recognise any input from my touchpad, the mouse cursor just sits there and I can't move it.

I'm running Windows 7 on a HP G62 laptop and I have the latest drivers for my touchpad.

Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Edit: I found an actual mouse to try it with and it's not recognising any mouse input from anything.

I am having the exact same problem. Any help woul dbe appreciated. Brand new laptop, and would love to run this game.

SOLVED!
I just opened the set up editor and maxed all the settings as high as they could go, particualrly resolution. Now it runs like a dream.
I also followed the advice in some of the other posts on deactivating the dpm. Good luck!

I have exactly the same problem. Unfortunately in my case it didn't help. I have all settings on maximum, however mouse cursor doesn't move at all. Not to mention that closing the screen with the game in this condition isn't easy too. I can't even see the task manager. I have to keep hitting Alt + Tab & Alt + F4.

Also I'm using BENQ G2410HD display, but even if disconnect it and use my laptop's 15 inches screen it doesn't work either,

Running it on ACER Aspire 5742. 64-bit.

Edit: Found the solution. Running it in window solves the problem.

Problem with Age Of Wonders: I tried every combo in resolution, but the game still does not recognize my mouse or my touchpad.
I'm running it on a hp with intel i5 cpu, 8GB Ram and a HD7670mobile.
I tried skipping the intro but I still get these errors :

"Exception EWin32Error in module VCL30dpl at 00010E4F.
A Win32 API function failed"

And:

"Runtime error 216 at 00003924"

When I try to close the game.

Sorry for replying this pretty old thread but I tried almost every piece of advice in the web and just one thing solved my problems:

In the settings, "start up video mode" -> (instead of choosing a resolution) choose "window", the first option.

Then everything worked like magic! =)
