I just installed this game and am playing it for the first time. It's fun but I am concerned with the method of saving games. It appears that it only has an auto-save function.

Is there a built-in manual save feature? I'd like to rename save files as "just before I launch a big attack" or such...or have a backup in case the save file gets corrupted.

I suppose I could use file copying...

All the games in the series support manual saves. Just open the menu and select "Save Game". There is also a keyboard shortcut for this (F2 in the later games, not sure about the earlier ones).
